Re: Zonda
Wurzel: Fantastic images Zonda! How do you get the photos larger when you upload them? Thanks for the praise. I use an intermediate web picture host Picasa (free) where i dump all of my pics. Picasa lets you choose from four different sizes when you upload to a site. I don't use the largest option, ...

Re: A Master of Disguise.
So maybe they've been right in front of your eyes all these years, Zonda! Almost certainly have Guy. I have always looked at the natural world around me, and i have always been astounded by it's beauty. From fungi, and to birds, to butterflies as well. I have always been interested enough to...

A Master of Disguise.
This is not a particularly great pic of a Green Hairstreak, but it does illustrate how this butterfly has evolved to resemble a new bramble leaf. Note the shine of a new leaf, bright green colouration, thorny brown edge, complete with thorn-like spikes. I think that this butterfly can alter the posi...

Re: Zonda
An absolutely delightful butterfly spectacle on the lower slopes of Giant's hill, Cerne Abbas this morning. Too 'gobsmacked' to take pics, i lowered the Zonda flab into a suitable depression on the hillside, and just looked. Green Hairstreaks in 'dogfights' with pristine Small Coppers. Holly Blues a...

Re: April 2011
Today, i took to the hills again. I gave the lower slopes of the Cerne Giant, about an hour and a half. They proved to be butterfly rich with: Speckled Wood Orange-tip Holly Blue Small Copper Grizzled Skipper (thanks Felix, another lifer.) Also there were hundreds of what i presume were Marsh Frit c...

Some years ago, i was racing down a hill on me bike, when i hit a swarm of St Mark's Flies. I managed to swallow one, and ever since i've felt sorry for Hirundines. ![Rolling Eyes ](./images/smilies/icon_rolleyes.gif)

Re: Looking for Green Hairstreaks
I've been looking for a season and a half Nicola. I'm not convinced they even exist. I think that all the photos of sightings are Green veined Whites, altered in Photoshop. Every time i see a GH sighting from anywhere, i fume with frustration. Please don't take me too seriously. Frank in Dorset. ![Sad :(](./images/smilies/icon_sad.gif)
