Re: Steel Grey Sky

You couldn't possible have the sun to-day because we had it up North, you will in no doubt get the sun tomorrow when your at work. I like your photos, could you tell me how do you get the writing on the photo?

Re: The sun came out in North Wales and so did.....

Thanks Iac, I was very surprised to see a Holly Blue and I had intended to add the photo but 3 photos are the maximum, I might add it tomorrow but I don't want to hog the sighting page. I've planted masses of plants to encourage the butterflies and it might just have worked.

The sun came out in North Wales and so did.....

So did the butterflies, in fact it was quite hot to-day. Firstly on the cliff path was the Green-Veined White I think :? and it was so jolly hot I was forced back into the garden where it became very interesting, a Comma on the Buddlia, followed by a Holly Blue on the leaves of the Blackcurrant then...

Re: Ringlets in Nefyn at last

Nefyn is on the Lleyn Peninsula, North Wales. We are overlooking Anglesey very close by a famous beach called Porth Dinllaen. In fact, these Ringlets are like buses wait ages for one and then loads turn up.

Re: From the rain into the sun- Emperor Dragonfly

Regarding the Green Veined White, I sent it to the Garden Bird Web sight and he has actually put it as a Large White, he could be right.

Ringlets in Nefyn at last

It rained all day in Nefyn to-day but late afternoon the sun made an appearence and so did the butterflies. At last amongst the Meadow Browns were a few Ringlets and I found it quite easy to take their photos, also a Small Skipper showed up I think. :)

Double Opps, I've just been on the internet to look for a Southern Hawker and I think you're right Mr. Padfield. Teacher's right again. :|

Re: From the rain into the sun- Emperor Dragonfly

I stand corrected on the butterfly, but! with the Dragonfly if it was blue it just might be a Emperor and the female is green which mine is although the photo doesn't show it but yours does and the thing flew to these flowers and it is very green. Perish the thought that I might question a teacher, ...

From the rain into the sun- Emperor Dragonfly

Not too many butterflies in Nefyn- North Wales, every day it seems to rain. When the sun comes out get out with that camera and make the most of it. To-day on the Buddlia a female Emperor Dragonfly rested for quite a while. At the other side of the garden in the Fever few a Large White Butterfly was...

Very nice photo, they are supposed to be in North Wales I been told. Can you tell me what the area was like that you found it? Is it a Ringlet or a White Admiral? From Shirley

Re: July Butterflies

Nothing much interesting in Nefyn if the butterflies haven't been blown away they certainly might have drowned. A few Small Tortoiseshell's about and loads of Meadow Browns.

Re: Tips on what camera to get

Hi Annie,

I have an Kodak Easyshare P712 its a light camera and not too expensive. I usually carry a Monopod with me. Its a camera to start with, the Canon and Nikon cameras are o.k if you've plenty of money to buy the extra lenes.
