Re: Swallowtail - Favourite Photo of 2015

I only visited the Broads once in 2015 and it was a bit windy for decent photographs but it was lovely to see a reasonable numbers of Swallowtails. I have chosen this photograph simply because it reminds me of what I hope to enjoy next June.

Re: Purple Emperor - Favourite Photo of 2015

July 10 was hot and sunny at Fermyn Woods. I spent much of the day laying on the ground observing Emperors who seemed either oblivious to or unconcerned by my presence. I took many photographs. It is a long crossing from Bilbao to the UK so maybe the French coast is a more likely departure point. Attached photo taken near Bilboa on...

Re: October 2015

Six Small Coppers in the dunes at Holkham, Norfolk this afternoon were a treat but a single slightly worn Brown Argus was a first for me this late in the year. Am I correct in assuming it is a third brood?

The late August weather on the Isle of Wight was not ideal for butterflies but some Adonis Blues were firmly attached to grass stems and allowed me to get close. The weather that followed my visit was foul, I hope they are tougher than they look.
