Dear all:
Thanks very much.
I had hoped the second one might be a Small Blue; I wasn't at all convinced though!
Once again, many thanks….

Re: Mike Robinson
Back down to the Erith Marshes today before it rained early-afternoon. Except that it didn't rain at all! The usual characters were present including the first Comma Butterfly I had seen there for a few weeks: commaerith9june2014.jpg I noticed a very faded Peacock Butterfly; however I spotted a coup...

Re: Mike Robinson
Dear Wurzel: Thanks. I'm relaxed with the Brown Argus (this and other characters). However, I was 'hoping' rather than 'thinking' that the other Butterfly was a Small Blue Butterfly; not really the right way to look at it. I think that I shall continue to seek my first Small Blue Butterfly. Kind reg...

Re: Mike Robinson
We decided to venture further afield today (Sunday 8 June); and made our way down the A2/M2 to the Queendown Warren Nature Reserve. Not too easy a place to find. We saw a few Butterflies; and quite a few Dogs! Truth to tell, we didn't see too many Butterflies but we managed to spot a Green Hairstrea...

Help please with a couple of Butterflies …..
We visited Queendown Warren in Kent today. Thankfully I was driven; not an easy place to find from the M2 (for me at least). I have two pictures; not wonderful I know but I hope they will be helpful. I think this might be a Brown Argus; it seems too dark a brown for a Common Blue Butterfly? brownarg...

If I have gotten this right, this will be a Diary of my Butterfly watching activities. Having spent approaching four years in search of Birds I feel I need a change. Most of my birding activities take place locally beside the (tidal) Thames at Crossness and on the nearby Erith Marshes (formerly NW K...

A Large Skipper please?
I'm frankly reluctant to suggest it because my new acquaintance seemed so small. However; is this a Large Skipper please? I asked a similar question on 23 May and there does seem to be some spotting on the darker parts at the edge of the wing (as mentioned in a kind reply to my earlier request). But...

A Burnet Companion Moth?
I'm wondering if the critter (seen today on the Elmley NNR in Kent) in the attached picture might be a (slightly faded) Burnet Companion Moth please?

Re: A Painted Lady please?
Dear Ayjay, Howdy; thanks. I feel a bit of a goof asking but starting out in this game (Butterflies, Moths &c.) I prefer to make a bit of a goof of myself by asking for clarification of the seemingly obvious rather than making automatic assumptions. That way, I can build my confidence. Thanks ve...

A Moth for identification please ….
I saw this character earlier today on the Erith Marshes (the Crossness Nature Reserve).
I initially wondered if she/he might be a Bordered White Moth but she/he seems to be too furry?
Any help will as always be very much appreciated.
A million thanks in advance ~ MIke …..

Re: I hope I'm not overstaying my welcome but ….
Guy,
Thanks. I'm thinking it's a male Nemophora degeerella viz. the long antennae.
The second critter puts me in mind of a stealth fighter!
Mike ….
PS … thanks for the kind words of encouragement ...
