Re: Katrina

Certainly did have sun. Didn't look promising when I left but by the end I was regretting not bringing my hat.

Certainly was worth a go in sunny weather with rapid butterflies but leaves you with a lot of deleting! Thanks again for the info re Herstmonceaux being closed.

Anchor and Egg

I went to Anchor Bottom . I saw Clouded Yellows and Humming Bird Hawks moths. Both flying fast so I thought I would try with burst mode on the camera. I saw 2 different HMHMs egg laying and with the second one decided to photograph the egg as it was less mobile! First HBHM egg I have seen There were...

Re: Katrina

Lovely set of Borstreak shots Katrina :D I've found this myself - after the first rush of fresh Brostreaks and having 'ticked' them off their list it seems some butterfliers give up on Brostreaks and so you end up with them all to yourself  which is actually kinda cool 8) Have a goodun Wurze...

Steyning

I spent a couple of hours at Steyning this morning. I was surprised to have the place to myself
I found 2 Brown Hairstreaks and a pair of sunglasses by the blackthorn.

Anchor Bottom revisited

This evening I went back to Anchor Bottom
The Adonis Blue females are now out.
I doubt they read this but just in case - thank you to the two ladies who pointed out the Autumn Ladies Tresses and the Red Star-thistles.
it was a bit breezy for photography but I was glad I got out.

Holly blew me away!

This morning I noticed a Holly Blue on the Hemp Agrimony in my patio. Pretty rare to get butterflies there but just goes to show if you plant the right plant you are in with a chance wherever you live. At lunchtime I went round Anchor Bottom with Jonathan. The butterflies were very active. No Adonis...

Re: Katrina

Nice foxes, Katrina. The habitat at Langlands Moss looks perfect for Large Heath. Not sure if they're recorded there. Yes they are listed as being there. Didn’t see any myself but not sure how long their season is so may have been too late, not sure best spot for them etc. it was very hot...

Bonus photos

I also went to Langlands Moss in East Kilbride.
Hot day mainly saw some whites and a Peacock. A brown butterfly or moth flew about 2 metres above my head very fast. Didn't get round all the paths and areas

Glasgow

I was up in the outskirts of Glasgow last week.
I did't spend much time butterflying but did go to Greenbank Gardens and saw Commas, Red Admirals, Peacocks and a Small Tortoiseshell.

Also went round the walled garden at Culzean Castle where there were numerous whites, some Peacocks and Red Admirals.,
