We did see a Peacock and the 1st 2014 sighting of a Speckled Wood too, so all was not lost :) The speckled wood flew through the gard...

Re: March 2014

If anyone can confirm that this moth is an Angle Shades, it would be appreciated, cheers. Definitely an Angle Shades. I saw my first one in April last year. UK moths states they are generally May - October but can be seen in any month: http://ukmoths.org.uk/show.php?id=1731 Best wishes, Lee Thanks ...

Re: March 2014

Another good day for butterflies today (13/3/14). Several Comma, Peacock, and finally a couple of Brimstone too. The highlight of the day was when i had just finished work (approx 4.00pm). I had been watching a Small White for sometime, but since my bridge camera was in my car, and i was up a ladder...

Re: March 2014

Confined to my garden over the weekend, which was a shame, because i have no doubt that there were many butterflies on the wing, at the various locations that i visit. I had put off re-roofing the summer house through the winter, and since the recent storms had stripped off more roof felt, i just ha...

Re: February 2014

My 2014 "garden butterfly list" is off the mark today (24/2/14) i spotted a Small Tortoiseshell on one of the Daffodils beside my driveway. I ran upstairs to grab my camera, ran back downstairs in record time, but as i opened the front door, the butterfly flew around the back of my car, up...

Re: February 2014

My first butterfly sighting of 2014 was today (21/2/14) at approx 12.45 pm. It was a Peacock, and i saw it land on the woodland floor. I was actually looking for a Vipera berus(Adder) but didnt see one of those today. I did in fact spot my first Adder for 2014, last Sunday (16/2/14) but that was at ...

Re: Testudo Man

Hi Paul, I think we are both in Kent but I didn't see my first Red Admiral until 17th April this year and I've only seen a handful of them all season. They've had a hard time of it down here after that dreadful Winter. Lovely photos, by the way and a warm welcome to the PD Forum! Cheers for that, y...
