It's great seeing your Grayling shots, unfortunately I missed them this year, the first time for years that I've not seen them. You've just made up for that. :D

Re: Bugboys mission

Tidemills is weirdly bereft of life at the moment, as you say not even a Clouded Yellow there. It's been like this for weeks, now yet there are Clouded Yellows not much further inland and now QOS. It's almost as if migrants are avoiding the costal sites! Perhaps they've all heard about the 'mysterio...

Wow Chalkhill's are all but finished around here Dave. There are a few very geriatric ones still flying but I've not seen any as fresh as that!

Great shot of the Hummer mike, they are really tricky to photograph! Lovely part of the UK that, I lived near there for a few years - many years ago.

Re: Butterflysaurus rex

It's a VERY rare combination of an aberration (ab. krodeli) and a "mixed gynandromorph" (see http://www.dispar.org/reference.php?id=17) - "The extent to which a gynandromorph exhibits aspects of each sex is dependent on the point at which the abnormality occurs. If late in the develo...

Re: Butterflysaurus rex

Could that Adonis ab be a partial gynandromoph? The thought had crossed my mind, but I have no idea if it's possible to get partial gynandromorphism? There are various terms for partial gynandromorphism, 'moziac gynandromorphism' being one that springs to mind. A complete bilateral gynandromorph is...

Lovely Adonis James, your Dragon fly looks quite evil, cracking shot though :D Goldie :D Thank you Goldie, :D I think most day flying insects would agree with you, but I love dragonflies, in fact I like most wildlife except for mosquitoes and ticks. I wish the Dragonflies would eat most of those! B...

Hi David, I think it might have happened when I reduced the image size, on the full Rez images you can see all of the scales. But you're right it does look a bit smudged!

I'm not sure, my guess is they are probably moth cats. I suppose they could be sawfly larvae but I don't really know anything about them.

Re: Butterflysaurus rex

Wonderful Wood Whites. On the 7th of August I joined Badgerbob on a trip out west with the intention of looking for Brown Hairstreaks. It soon became obvious that the weather was not on our side, it was very overcast with occasional light rain - not good weather for Hairstreak hunting! Thinking on ...
