Re: Which fritillary please
It was rightly 'diamina' and 'athalia' that had me in two minds, and that slight over-exposure doesn't help. Thanks for your analysis Guy - 'diamina' it will be then !!

Which fritillary please
Hi everyone. Here are 2 photos of the same individual from July in the Alpes de Haute Provence, but I can't make my mind up on the species - there are so many fritillaries that look so similar. Can someone give me a positive ID please?

Re: Great Sooty Satyr ?
Hi Colin,
I'm no expert but it certainly looks to me to be a Great Sooty Satyr. Now there's a coincidence - I photographed my first GSS on July 22nd in the Alpes de Haute Provence (1650 m alt.). Fortunately it was in a bit better condition than yours - see photos for comparison.
Cheers, Chris.

Re: Which Grizzled Skipper ?
Thanks for your analysis Guy. This has put my mind at rest and I will classify it as Oberthür's.

Which Grizzled Skipper ?
Hi. I saw this Grizzled Skipped in July in the Cantal departement of the Massif Central, France, at alt. 950 m, but I can't tell if it is Oberthür or Foulquier. Can someone differentiate for me please?
Thanks. Chris Jackson.

What is this larva please
Can someone tell me what this larva is? It is on an apricot tree leaf at the end of June in the South of France. Thanks.
