I knew they had been seen in Brampton - hence Jack and I assumed that Monk's Wood would be showing too; alas, despite good weather and extensive hanging around and moving around to other known spots, we saw none....and I haven't had a chance to go since, or...

Nice to run into Jack today over in Monk's Wood as I approached a Black Hairstreak hot-spot..... Following several hours of searching we did have a season-first.... MB_1_low_Monk's_Wood_19th_June_2012.jpg It tells you what a season it has been when a male Meadow Brown elicits such excitement .... :)...

None yet - went out today looking....

Came across a male OT later today too; but with no sense of colour coordination at all! OT_m_2_low_13th_June_2012.jpg Saw at least 8 or 9 Brimstone (5 f) with several Small Heath, a few BA and CB, plus a single Large White and my first 3 Large Skipper of the year. Later saw 2 Holly Blue and a Red Ad...

Before the clouds rolled in it was a beautiful sunny, if cool, start to the day. Caught this female OT waking-up.....

Whilst I was out & about, in the 10 minutes of sunshine today, 3 Common Blue and 3 Small White appeared...
