Exif-Data

Within the User Control Panel under the Gallery tab there is a check box option to - View Exif-Data by default: Once the Yes box is checked how do I view an image’s Exif-Data be it mine or someone else’s? Being new to butterfly photography I find this information ‘sadly interesting’ as seeing what s...

Re: July 2011

Having managed to get out for an hour or so late this afternoon I thought I'd have a bash at 2nd generation Wood White and came home with these two instead. I've never photographed SWFs before and was quite pleased with the results ... especially the ab! SWF Female.JPG SWF Female (ab).JPG Does anyon...

Hi John,
John W wrote:What setting do you have for AF/AE lock?
AF/AE but I'm not really sure why. This setting will only come into play if you then press the AF/AE Lock button.

Re: Newbie Question

Hi John, I generally take pictures from 12 - 14 inches away, and have AF mode set to the 'single square'. I'm not sure if I should set Focus to AF, AF Macro, Macro Zoom or MF? Not sure if this helps but on my Lumix DMC-FZ45 I have my AF Mode set to 1 Area Focusing (single square). This is where the ...

Hi Pauline,

What a great pose. I bet you were holding your breath when you took that shot?

Keep up the good work.

Re: Forum Help

Hi Lee, Thanks for the comment and yes I am certainly beginning to get the hang of it. That's my favourite image to date. It was taken at about 6.40 am on a lovely sunny morning. The only downside was lying in a field full of long grass which played havoc with my hayfever! Hope to see you in the fie...

Forum Help

I'm a bit new to this so a little help would be appreciated. When I submit images to the forums (two to date but I’m working on it!) they are loading onto the site as attachments. I notice that other members images appear embedded within the post. Which is the best practice and why? Is there somewhe...

Re: Newbie Question

Like Neil and Guy I also use centre spot auto focus and occasionally, as Neil states, it will struggle to focus on something small but I believe that this is only down to my ability to hold the camera extremely still on a very small object (I don't use a tripod). The following shot of a small skippe...

Re: Newbie Question

The best advice I can give is give it a chance. I have only had my Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ45 a week and have been extremely pleased with the results. Fitted with a close up lens and a steady hand the camera has produced excellent results (and no I don't work for Panasonic). Be patient and good luck. ...

Re: Chiddingfold woods

After several days of looking I finally tracked down a female Dark Green Fritillary at Oaken Wood this morning. It was on the area where the bracken has recently been cleared. I had a good morning which included Purple and Green Hairstreak, the latter in very poor condition, Ringlet, Silver-washed F...

I also got soaked this morning but at least you saw something! How about a Small Tortoiseshell in the rabbit hole though the underside of the forewing doesn't look quite right?
