Over the past week I've noticed quite a lot of Ladybirds coming in to my house, mainly via the bedroom and bathroom windows. Yesterday, for example, I counted 4 coming in the bathroom window and 2 more in my bedroom. Last week they were particularly noticeable and I had about 10 come inside.

I imagine they are looking for somewhere to hibernate but I wondered if other people were seeing them in unusually high numbers?

I was covered in them down at Denbies last week (some photos in my diary), and there were quite a few at Mill Hill today as well. And yes, they do occasionally nibble!

Swarms of ladybirds were worrying visitors to Waddesdon Manor, during the very warm weather on Wednesday (10th Oct).

I took this group by the Aviary and there is a wide variety of spot patterns to be seen:
A furled shade umbrella attracted a large number in the late afternoon.
in addition, what I think is a Noble False Widow Spider (Steatoda nobilis) was causing some consternation as it tried to hide in a crevice by the door into the Ladies!
