I Wonder if anyone recognizes this shrub ? it grows in the garden of the lighthouse at Dungeness (Kent) it looks very like Laurel
(the leaves ) and has tiny white flowers ,gingerish coloured hairy stems ,and is very aromatic !! and the scent could be detected from 20-30 metres
distance. There seemed to be two varieties ,with one having variegated leaves ,it stood about 2.5 metres tall.It was also much visited by both Large and Small Whites . Any ideas ?? Regards Allan.W.

Hi Allan,

That looks like an Oleaster (Elaeagnus), but I am unsure of the specific variety.
Here is a sample image: https://www.mailordertrees.co.uk/produc ... -elaeagnus
