Hello All,
One of these repeatedly landed right in the middle of our rose patch , so it was the least I could do to grab a shot.

I think this is a Meleager Blue , a really pretty slight little thing.

A larger shot is here

It is similar to a Short-tailed Blue, but is missing the orange splodges on the edge.

Have I identified this correctly?

thanks
Martin

Where was this taken Martin?

It's definitely not Meleager's Blue - which has a distinctive scalloping to the hindwings. See the entry from Guy Padfield's excellent site at:

Without looking into this in more detail, this does look very much like a Holly Blue to me.

Cheers,

- Pete

Peter,
Taken in north Worcester , about 30 minutes ago :-)

I see what you mean about the scalloping - ok, it's just a Holly blue - still jolly pretty though :-)

thanks

Ah! OK - Meleager's Blue aren't resident in the UK, so that's pretty easy to rule out!

Cheers,

- Pete
