Small Tortoiseshell ab

Post by Rivoldini »

I have seen this one twice in the last week on a site in Gateshead. I would appreciate any advice on whether it is an aberration, ab alba with the yellow replaced by white. At first I thought it was a worn hibernator.

Thank you,
Ron

Hello Ron ,
Looking at your Small Tort ; picture reminds me very much of an egg laying female that I found at Dungeness at the back end of April ,wouldn't like to say whether it is a named Abberant ,or just a very slight variation from the norm,in some ways like the "Diopthalmica " Peacock (the one with the extra tiny blue spot ) .
