Unientified Blue in Italy

Post by Stevie Blunder »

Can anyone tell me what this Blue is please? Photographed on Mt Vesuveous 8th August 2017. Unfortunately it's the only photo I managed to get of this butterfly. Many thanks.

Hi Stevie,

This is most probably a common blue, Polyommatus icarus. The lack of a visible cell spot makes the ID slightly less confident but from everything we can see here that is by far the most likely.

Thanks for the info. I thought it probably was a Common Blue.
