Chequered Skipper - Favourite Photo of 2017

Week 3 and onwards into the 'C's'...

Please could I ask that everyone waits until a topic has been opened by me for a particular species before posting photos? Of course our overseas members are very welcome to fill in the obvious gaps relating to rare UK migrants. As like last year details of locations, dates, times and circumstances would be welcome as would any accompanying stories and anecdotes or other observations of behaviour and interesting other points.

Have a goodun

No trip to Scotland for home grown Chequered Skippers this year, but I did see a handful in the French Pyrenees towards the end of May:

As most regulars will know I had a great time catching up with this lifer back at the beginning of June (with invaluable help from my 'chauffeur' Janet Turnbull). Not a hope in choosing just the one picture so here's a small selection
This is the very first one I saw.

Only the second time I have seen them. This was in Hungary. Mud puddling in a tractor rut. Works best at a larger size.

And then a more normal one.

Lovely image of the Chequered Skipper on the bluebell, Bugboy. Few finer sights in the UK butterflying experience in my opinion.
