Two moths have been forwarded to me from the Pyrenees trip in late May 2017.

Anyone have any ideas?

Hi David, the lower one is probably Pyrausta despicata. I wouldn't like to say for certain as there may be similar species given the location.

Anyone any pointers for the first moth? I've seen this several times in France but cannot find out what it is.

Been puzzling over your two moths ,and must say the small brown job ,does look like Pyraustra despicata as Nigel suggests,
hope you don't mind but I,ve stuck a picture of Despicata on (please feel free to remove ),taken at Dungeness (Kent) early April.
the other one is more puzzling ,at first it reminded me of The Black -veined moth, admittedly, looks nothing like one ! but just the way it sits in the grasses , so possibly a "Siona " species not found in the UK,the other possible ,and more likely is Ochraeous Wave (idaea Serpentata)
I,m no expert ,and happy to be corrected ! Regards Allan.W.

Thanks for this, Allan. It certainly looks a good candidate.
