I have just spent a couple of days in the France Parc de Mercantour, and I have a little problem with this Pyrgus, I think it is a P. bellieri but I am not 100% sure,

Hi John. I saw lots of these butterflies with the significant white tufts and am confident they are bellieri, although I haven't yet got round to posting these images (I will do so very soon).

Hi John,
One of the things I look for on bellieri as well as the large white tuft is a fine dark pencil line around the edge of each white and dark panel on the under side hind wing, This feature was pointed out to me a few years ago by Philippe Bricaire and it works for me. Yours has this if you look carefully, so the two features together make it 'to my mind' bellieri.

All the best
John

Hi David and john
Thanks a lot for your reply, John that looks like a good feature :) I will put it in my files as a bellieri :)

Hi all,

I think we've all seen bellieriat this location, and I even think I recognise the lavender bush. There were several female bellieri on this bush a few days ago.
