My wife and I will be in Suffolk from 7 July for a week , then in Mid Norfolk for five days. Where is the best place to see butterflies? Is it too late for swallowtails?

Ian,

It may be getting too late for Swallowtails, although not out of the question. I can recommend Strumpshaw Fen and Wheatfen for those.

As for Suffolk there are several sites that will produce good numbers of butterflies (weather permitting).
Westleton Heath is currently showing Silver Studded Blues as is Lower Hollesley Common
For White Letter hairstreak, try Dunwich Forest.
There are introduced Purple Emperor at Theberton Woods too which should be out when you travel.
If you like other wildlife too, the RSPB reserve at Minsmere is excellent.

White Admiral and Silver Washed Fritillaries are beign seen a ta number of places, so I would recommend looking at our local branch sightings page for other up to date info and sightings
