This is just appalling- but I am not completely surprised - I think a UKB member may have witnessed this , or a similar incident at Daneway.
Kind regards
Mark

Well, let's see what the sentencing is. Nice to see an image of the individual. I've committed it to memory (and saved the web-page) should I find myself at either of those locations in future.

There were reports of 'a man with a net' at Daneway the day before my visit last year.

Amazing for the media, they actually showed a picture of the correct species.

When we did our Large Blue Trip, on one of the sites, there were 2 people with nets, but as in most cases i have seen, they were there officially doing a survey of the reserve this time for the Six-belted Clearwing moth, and showed us one attracted to the scent trap, and caught in a net. We had kept a distant eye on them, and they came over and told us what they were up to.

The Large Blues at that site were already past their best, unlike at Collard Hill.

We have also had similar on a BC walk at Box Hill on the Juniper Hall side, again for Clearwing Moths.
