A new and a newbie member

Hello Everyone
Have just ask my first question in the Identification section and no doubt will be asking a lot more a time goes on. Came across this site whilst trying to identify the butterfly refered to in the ID section and joined. Am a total newbie on the subject of insects.
I am an ex Royal Navy photographer, however, the last twenty odd years of my working life has been in IT support at one of London's Universitys. Now retired, I decided to go back to my love of photography. Earlier this year I signed on to several very short courses covering the wildlife environment of London and very useful it has been too. This has got me interested in the insect kingdom. I use a Canon DSLR with a 300mm and a converter. This allows me to get close enough to my frisky subjects without disturbing them. Recently I started a flickr page which I will hopefully start populating with images of wildlife subjects.
