Hello Everyone

Have just ask my first question in the Identification section and no doubt will be asking a lot more a time goes on. Came across this site whilst trying to identify the butterfly refered to in the ID section and joined. Am a total newbie on the subject of insects.

I am an ex Royal Navy photographer, however, the last twenty odd years of my working life has been in IT support at one of London's Universitys. Now retired, I decided to go back to my love of photography. Earlier this year I signed on to several very short courses covering the wildlife environment of London and very useful it has been too. This has got me interested in the insect kingdom. I use a Canon DSLR with a 300mm and a converter. This allows me to get close enough to my frisky subjects without disturbing them. Recently I started a flickr page which I will hopefully start populating with images of wildlife subjects.

Hi Wilfred,

A warm welcome to UKB!

You'll find a wealth of knowledge on this site along with a group of people ever willing to help. I'm sure someone will soon Id your butterfly (I'm certainly not an Id expert).

Kevin.

Welcome Wilfred,
The UK Butterflies site has many members with a wide variety of skills and knowledge.
I'm sure your photo skills will come in handy.
The combined knowledge here regarding BFs, all insects, birds and photography, with helpful members, makes this a very rich website.
Looking forward to seeing your posts.
Chris

Welcome from me too, and don't be afraid to ask any question no matter how silly you may think it is :)
