Red admiral migration

For those who don't read my diary, a link to photos of a great red admiral capture-mark-release experiment to get information about their southward passage:

This was on Thursday/Friday while I was working, so I couldn't join in, but they will keep me posted with any results. The above pictures were from Col de la Croix, near me, and more admirals were marked and released a little further south, on the Col de Cou. Already by the end of the second day some from Col de la Croix had been picked up again at Col de Cou. Those who live in the South of France or will be visiting in the next weeks, do keep an eye out for red admirals with funny colours! A total of more than 7000 were marked, so you probably have a better chance of finding one of these than winning the lottery ...

Hi Guy, most interesting this study into the migration of Red Admirals.
I am now motivated to look out for multi-coloured RAs in the Bouches du Rhône département in the South of France, in Vitrolles during my lunchbreak, and in my garden in Marseilles.
Will keep you informed via this thread if ever I see a Red Admiral concerned.
