... and brimstone, resting while cloud covered the sun. The sun came out, I got the shot, it vibrated its wings for a minute to warm the muscles up and it was off, trawling its patch for females.

Hello all. Great place for U.K butterfly information! Oh and here is mine. This small tortoiseshell hibernated through the winter in my house:

Thanks for comments Gwen & Martin.
@Dave, ST numbers have dropped recently in England so nice to see that one has survived.

The Fuji S5600 is a surprisingly good camera considering its cost, and that's a very nice pic. Hope to see more soon.

Excellent photos!
Still haven't had an opportunity to get any photos this year, actually I've only seen one butterfly up to now!

Love the Brimstone pic, I really wanted to get a photo of one this year, but I'm off to Korea next week for 3 weeks so proberbly wont have the chance :-)

I was also impressed with the Fuji S series, friend of mine got one and I was rather shocked to see him easily producing photos as good as me (with my Canon 300D, 100mm Canon Macro lens).

Looking forward to this summer, looks promising already.....
