This butterfly was photographed on 30th July just west of Luchon in the Midi Pyrenees - having read Nigel Kiteley's request for ID and the bellieri answer, I am wondering if this could be a male bellieri ?? I had it down as amoricanus...
I rather expect it is the latter, but I would be grateful for opinions. I have checked Roger's and Guy's sites to ID and found it difficult to rule bellieri out, but also sadly I do not feel confident it could be.
(edit) here's another Pyrgus from the same site, just in case it helps...

Hi Paul. I'm sorry it's taken me so long to reply - very little time at the moment!
With all the usual caveats, I'd go for armoricanus, as you originally thought. Both individuals look spot on for this and neither shows any of the particular features of bellieri. With any luck, my reply will at least prompt someone else into giving a longer, more considered response!

Re: another Franco-Spanish Pyrgus
I've just arrived in Var after a few days on the road, so if you'll accept a shorter, less-considered response, I agree with Guy on armoricanus.

Thank you both. amoricanus is fine by me, thanks again.
