Aberrant Ringlets

My first post, so I hope it's formatted properly. Images are in my Flickr Photostream https://www.flickr.com/photos/hoppy1951/

I spotted a couple of aberrant Ringlets in South Wales this week:

1. Ringlet (Aphantopus hyperantus ab. nov?). This aberrant individual has some pear-shaped enlarged spots on its underwing, bearing some resemblance to ab. lanceolata.

2. Ringlet (Aphantopus hyperantus ab. arete (Muller 1764)) Spots on underwing reduced to small white points with no encircling gold rings.

Corrections, comments etc. welcome.
Diolch yn fawr,
Allan

An interesting post (and no format problems!). Ringlets seem especially abundant this year and those are quite dramatic aberrants.

I've seen a few examples that were far from symmetrical between the two sides and wonder if you've had any chance to check that aspect? Look forward to seeing more of your posts in the future. :)
