Continuing on an already commonplace theme, here is my contribution to the Alpine Lepidoptera images currently on show...
I found my destination to be a week or two behind in relation to my previous experiences at the same venue 90 minutes south west of Geneve. This meant fewer species and no new ones for me, but the weather was wonderful at least!!

First, another opportunity to photograph hippothoe, the Purple Edged Copper....

Next is C. semiargus, Mazarine Blue, a fave of mine.... a few fresh males around.... wish they would re-introduce it to the UK, preferably Yorkshire

I'm looking foreword to finding out what you've seen there too,as I've been to La Clusaz, Annecy, Megeve, Chamonix area a few times,and I've been a couple of times to Geneve as well. Black kites everywhere in the city!

Yes, we saw a few Black Kites around the area.
A couple of artaxerxes next, the latter ? allous, followed by a eumedon, the Geranium Argus which always seemed to defeat my efforts to get a good image.. only seen on our last day, though they must have been there when I was at the site the week before as some were quite worn.... they must have been too elusive for me the first time.

and E. aurinia Marsh Frit, the variant local to this region...

I think that's a great eumedon, Paul! But then, true artists are always too harsh on themselves ...

Ha ha.... it is the best I've done so far!!
One surprise for the week were a load of rubi high in an Alpine valley, presumably using plentiful Bilberry as host plant...
Another UK species much in evidence were rhamni and this one practically insisted I took it's photo!!
Another new location find also for osiris but the few flying had obviously been around a while....

Erebias were relatively mundane as well, but I did want another try with oeme, the Bright Eyed Ringlet, which offered up two versions....
and... lugens
As well as those, were ligea, Arran Brown...
and galathea, a rather nice female Marbled White....
and that was it!
