Butterflies of southern France

Post by Pete Eeles »

I'm off to Nice (s. France) next week (with work) but may get the opportunity to do a bit of sight-seeing. I'm not even sure what the weather is likely to be like, but does anyone have any tips should I want to find some local Lepidoptera?!

Thanks in advance.

Cheers,

- Pete

The temp will be around 18 C.
The best place to try will be the park area on the top of the cliffs.
If you walk down to the sea front and face the sea, turn left, walk all the way along the sea front and at the end there is a steep walk upto the park on the top of the cliffs.
Not sure what you will find butterfly wise but worth a look.
Even if the leps turnout to be poor the view will more than make up for it!

Cheers Andy :)
