Today we went walking in Chopwell Woods near Gateshead and within 5 minutes of getting there we saw a perfect Small Tortoiseshell and a nice Red Admiral.
The temp on my vehicle was only showing 2-3 C.
But when the sun was out it was quite warm, and the temp on the return journey showing 10 C.

Hope this is the start of a good season.

Cheers Andy

Andy, where abouts is Chopwell Woods?

I live in South Shields, 10 min drive from Gateshead :-)

Wayne,
We saw them at the main car park area as you come in from High Spen.
We had parked at the top of the car park and the butterflies flew past between our car and the information point.

Cheers Andy :)
