Hello again,
Sorry, this isn't the sharpest picture I've ever made but it was snatched and was the only one before it flew off. Seen in the French Pyrenees in September 15. I thought at first it was a Queen of Spain Fritillary but as I look more I see the absence of dark spots on the upper wings so must ask for help again in the forum.
Thanks in advance for any help with identification.
May 2016 be another great year for this forum.

Hello David,
Just to move you one step forward, this butterfly most probably belongs to the genus Melitaea.
When I've finished cooking tea for the kids, I'll have a closer look.

I'll go for female Meadow Fritillary (Melitaea parthenoides).
Dark mark in upper forward wing space 1 oblique (angled, compared with other Melitaea).
Contrasted mix of yellow and orange colors = female.
The distribution and flight period match.
I'm braced, ready for correction.

Many thanks, Chris and Guy. I can forgive my own confusion because my shot is very like the 11 Aug on your site, Chris but when I Googled Meadow Fritillary I found lots of images with very heavy dark spots on the upper wings. It just what my meagre experience level is my thanks for all the help I've received here over a few years now.
