Hi, is this a Meadow Brown abberation or just a faded one? Seen at Steyning Rifle Range yesterday (12/08/2015).

Hi John, I'm inclined to lean towards faded rather than a naturally pale individual. The mostly worn away fringe points towards an older animal and zooming in I can see patches of wear and tear with missing scales. Sorry to disappoint :?

I took several photos of a similar Meadow Brown in my garden near Swanage on 14th July 2015.
The butterfly did not appear to be very worn, and I also photographed the underside and the hairs are a whitish colour whereas a normal Meadow Brown has brown coloured hairs.
See attached pictures.
