Larvae ID Please

Post by kevling »

I have some larvae that I'm unable to identify. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

These were taken in May

Hi Kev,

No idea with the first one. The second is actually a Hoverfly larvae, the third looks like its from the family Arctiidae, the Tiger Moths etc and the last one could be a Grass Egger.

Hope thats of some help :)

The first looks like an early Vapourer caterpillar - the eggs are laid around the cocoon of the flightless female. The Arctiidae could be White or Buff Ermine (correction: White Ermine, or possibly Muslin or Ruby Tiger. Can't pin it down and not sure how much variation you get with these)
