Our December cruise stopped @ Madeira for the only sunny day we had in all 12 days! I made the cardinal error of going ashore in a rush & not taking a spare camera battery, consequently very few wildlife or flower photos taken. Did manage what I think is a Maderian Banded Bee & after a bit of research on net possibly a Lang's short-tailed Blue, hope someone can advise. Eric

Hi Eric,
I'm quite used to seeing Lang's Short-tailed Blue down here in the South of France, and I can't see what else your butterfly could be.
Furthermore, for info, last year down here in the area of Marseilles, the LSTB flew over the whole of the winter, with the Red Admiral obviously, on those days with a bit of sunshine and afternoon temperatures above approx. 14 °C.

Yes - I can confirm this is Lang's STB. Very nice shots, too.

Many thanks to you both for the confirmation, glad my research on web was right. Eric
