Welsh butterfly

Post by Tricia »

Hi - I'm new to these forums. I am able to identify most of the common species of butterfly - especially in Suffolk, where I live. But I'm visiting Newport, Pembrokeshire at the moment and a mile or so from the sea, in a garden I took the attached picture. Could anyone please tell me what it is? Thank you!

Thank you! I wouldn't have guessed it was a moth.
