Meadow Fritillary sighting

Not sure what to make of this:

My gut instinct is that this is either a release, or an accidental "import", especially given its good condition - and inland too!

I agree with Pete. Not too difficult to obtain livestock of this I've been told & as it is fresh & non migratory it must be a release!

Hasn't there been a non-native introduced colony in south Bucks for some years? (Can't remember the name of the wood). Maybe they are spreading and becoming self-sustaining.

Are those marbled fritillaries still around? I was at Finemere a few weeks back but at night (catching bats)

I don't think any have been since 2010. They were there a few years until then. I didn't know about them until after that.

Nope. I went there two years ago in perfect conditions and didn't see any.
