I spotted this newish looking pub on the edge of Andover Business Park today :D Is it the only pub in the UK named after a Butterfly :?: or are there others :?:

Perhaps it is the ideal venue for our winter social if we get fed up with The Forge

There's a Painted Lady in Coventry, a Red Admiral in Trowbridge, and a Purple Emperor in Harlow.

(thank you Google :) )

Cheers

I used to live in Harlow Essex and, originally, all of the pubs that were built in the new town were named after butterflies or moths. In addition to the Purple Emperor mentioned above there is, and in some cases was: Orange Footman, Golden Swift, The Shark, The Small Copper, Poplar Kitten, The White Admiral, The Herald, The Drinker Moth, The Phoenix, The Willow Beauty, Garden Tiger, Heart and Club, Essex Skipper, Gatekeeper and The Hummingbird.

I've probably forgotten a few . . .

Just found this newly opened pub in my native Great Yarmouth.

Interesting that for once a pub sign shows a butterfly in natural pose, not a set specimen.

I am not suggesting that Great Yarmouth is worth a visit just for this pub. Sadly the town suffered a steady decline since I moved away more than 50 years ago.
My departure and the decline are undoubtedly linked

PS Grayling butterflies were found on the North Denes (sand dunes) on my last visit in late summer 2012.
