Larvae Identification please

Post by Spiderwoman »

I have found these caterpillars all over the polygonatum (Solomons Seal) in my garden in north Notts. I'm not very good at macro photography so hope the shot is clear enough. They have a black head and are grey-green in colour and about an inch or so long. I thought they might be a Silver-spotted Skipper?

It's the dreaded Solomon's Seal Sawfly Phymatocera aterrima, so not a lepidopteran.

Thanks. Makes sense as I've seen someone else with similar photo asking same question.
