Slow Worm?

At Glasdrum Wood, early in the morning, I encountered a reptile that clearly hadn't warmed up sufficiently.

It made no attempt to slither away and I was lucky I didn't step on it.

Seems too small to be a grass snake (12 inches at absolute most).

Is it a slow worm?

You're in for a cracker of a day, Jason.

Soak it up and take your time. Hopefully with your keen eye you will see things I didn't.

Good luck! I wish I could be there with you.

Thanks for the ID.

Yes, that's a Slow Worm. Lovely Chequered Skipper photos on the sightings page and good total seen. That's Pinemarten country too if you're really lucky.
Cheers
