Salcey Forest: Wood Whites

Post by jasonbirder »

After only getting the most dismal record shot of a wind-battered Wood White at Branscombe last week I was hoping to get better views and more compliant butterflies in the sunshine later today...

Was going to visit Salcey Forest for Wood Whites...but its a large area for one person to cover...can anyone reccomend any good area's to concentrate my efforts?

Cheers!

We followed the Orange Trail (Church Path Trail) to the North of the Car Park until we found a lovely open ride lined edged with grasses and vetches with the path broken by a few muddy puddles and easily found 5 - 6 males patrolling actively...occasionally pausing to nectar at Purple Vetch.
