Hi folks,

So ... behind the scenes the work continues, and I've just finished elaborating the various family descriptions - just click on the graphics on each non-forum page, or click one of these:

... and thanks to those whose images I've borrowed. Personally, I think this adds a new and interesting dimension to the website, and I'll certainly be looking to get photos that demonstrate diagnostic features of each of the families in future. If anyone has superior images of any elements shown please pop them in the species-specific albums and let me know! Now onto the subfamilies

Great stuff Pete .
The work seems to be never ending, but it always looks terrific when it's done, so your pain is our gain. The new Anatomy section is also a very accomplished piece. I particularly like the way it draws upon a wide variety of sources (micro photography, video etc) to illustrate the various aspects of the subject. However, my favourite is the use of the annotated overlay, which is very elegant indeed.

As ever, I will be on the look-out for bugs

Thanks Vince - appreciated. I actually enjoy doing this (in a strange way!) because I learn so much as I go through the literature. Also, as you say, making use of elements (such as videos) that can't be replicated in books really makes best use of the web and brings things to life

Hi Pete,

I think that this is a very good addition to the website - an important contribution to making it the 'one stop shop' for information about butterflies.

I'm pleased to read that you enjoy doing it - I understand that pleasure, as, especially since I retired, I also like to research topics of interest to myself and share them on the web.
