I'm back in Suffolk for a week. Even the light winds of the last few days have brought down high twigs and branches and yesterday, as I was tidying up the lawn, I found a spray with a purple haristreak egg on it:

So just a thought - there could be a lot of windfalls over the next couple of days in the South. It would be well worth searching oak and elm sprays for purple and white-letter hairstreak eggs, which can be kept over winter in the fridge and moved back to living plants in the spring.
