Hi all,
Just to say that we are still keeping going here for the moment in the Med. This week there were a few of the following on the wing:
Large Whites, Clouded Yellows, Painted Ladies, Red Admirals.
Here below are 3 photos:
A Crimson Speckled Footman, who puts in an appearance at precisely this time of year, seen here resting on Globularia,
A jasius Caterpillar still basking in the sun (23°C) on a Strawberry Tree leaf,
The last yellow food plant of the season, Dittrichia viscosa, which has now gone to seed,
...making the most of the last moments here, and thinking of all of you back in the UK - bon courage ! - as we say.
Chris.

Not sure which makes me the more envious - the caterpillar or the temperature!

Great pic. of the caterpillar Chris, I also like the Crimson Speckled( I saw one in Spain 28/9/13, I thought I'd found a new species,ha! ha!)
Nice to know the weather/butterflies are still holding up, I'm back in Lancs. now, unfortunately :(

Hi David and Russ,
I hear you've got some bad weather arriving soon back in the UK, so batten down the hatches!
Cheers
Chris

Indeed we have, and I don't think north west France will miss it either.
