It's that time again!

Time to start reviewing your photos from the past season and warming your hands on the monitor screen

The format will be the same as last year and will run for 20 weeks over the winter months.

Starting on Monday 14th October we will be running through 60 species in alphabetical order. Three species will be showcased per week, which will take us through to the end of February 2014.

Please exercise restraint when posting images and wait until the topic for any particular species has been opened by me. Further details will be posted at the start of each week and reminders issued when necessary.

I hope the 60 species includes the Long Tailed Blue

As there are only 59 officially "resident" species in the British Isles, I usually add a guest species to round it up to 60. This year it will be Long-tailed Blue

Hi Chris,

It's all very informal. Photos can be from any location, so long as they are of the subject species. Some people can't decide on a favourite, so post a selection of their best ones. You are also allowed to post images from before 2013 if you did not see that particular species in the last year. It's all bit of fun in order to get everybody through the winter. The only thing I insist on is that no one jumps the gun and posts images of species before that particular topic is opened. Once a species page has been opened you can post images on it at any time thereafter

More details will be included in the notes which accompany each species topic.

Just use the 'upload attachment' tab at the bottom of the reply box then, when you have uploaded your image, place the cursor where you want it to appear within your message and click the 'Place inline' button.
