Larva and spider ID

Found this odd, bluish coloured larva on a wooden bench at West Williamston today. I assume it to be a moth larva?

I'd also appreciate an ID on this very robust spider:

The larva is a Grey Dagger moth, I believe.

The spider is Boris :wink: i.e. no idea :)

Ah ha! Boris was the chap I saw chomping down the Meadow Brown at Denbies the other day...

Very probably, Dave.

I've seen quite a few of these spiders this month. Do they only spin webs in autumn?

I'd say it's the very similar Dark dagger moth and Araneus Quadratus for the spider :)
