I would like to advise members, that if they are going to Shipton Bellinger this weekend to look for the Brown Hairstreak, there is a large dog show being held in the field next to the best site, the Wilts/Hants boundary hedge. Caravans are placed along the hedge and you will not be able to walk along it. The dog show extends through bank holiday Monday to Tuesday. However there are other areas to look for this elusive insect in the vicinity but your visit will be a noisy one. The dogs are beautiful, being all Alaskan Malamutes and Huskies. They race the sledge dogs in the early morning around the tracks!
