Hi all, Having read numerous reports on how wonderful Bulgaria is for Butterflies I thought I would give it a go rather than my usual holiday to Northern Spain, I spent 1 week near Burgas and a week in Skalsko.
I was not disappointed as the Butterflies and Bugs were plentiful, highlights for me were first ever Map, Dryad, Brown Hairstreak, Cardinal, Common Glider and Lattice Brown.
I would certainly recommend a visit for anyone interested in Bugs, you wont be disappointed.
The food is great but not always easy to order and the Beer is so cheap.

Fantastic pictures! Your cardinals are exactly the shots I've been trying to get recently, but I'm almost always looking through them into the sun so the red and green get diluted with orange.

Must agree with Guy some great photos from a wonderful place.

I visited Southern Bulgaria in June & July 2012 to film the butterflies and found the countryside wonderful as much of it is totally unspoilt.

Thanks for the picture Comments, no skill required just take lots and some are bound to be good, the camera choice was actually made from advice from people on this site, viewtopic.php?f=7&t=6074
The Cardinals were feeding on African Marigolds along the seafront in Burgas with lots of Queen of Spains.

Some lovely images on there, roundwood, and fair play for posting your moth photographs - a fair few of them are quite stunning.
