Naughty caterpillars...

...are eating the garlic mustard plants that germinated from seed earlier this year. OK, I planted them out with a view to them getting eaten by butterfly caterpillars, but not till next spring. If the larvae reduce the leaves to shreds this autumn will the plants survive through till next spring and regrow from the rootstock?
