Water for butterflies

By accident I left a sprinkler on this morning under some trees. By chance I saw five Small Whites flitting around the limits of the water and settling to drink on grass stems, as the spray circled past them they all flew up and settled again when it had passed.
I surmise that in this hot weather there is not enough moisture content in the nectar so I am going to try and make a small damp scraping and put a leaky hose at the top of my field and see what it attracts.
