Large Skipper faded???

On my WL Hairstreak hunt today this Large Skipper landed next to me. I almost ignored it as it seemed very faded. However, I then looked harder and it appeared to be not what I would expect from a faded individual. I wonder if it is an ab. of some sort. There are no abs. on the UK Butterflies website so if anyone has any suggestions please!! After taking the picture it chased a normal Large Skipper away so it was still a strong individual.

It's not faded - it's ab pallida! Well spotted!

What a fantastic year this is proving for aberrations!

Thanks Guy for such a quick response and the link to the Cochayne collection for this specimen. Bob.

This sure is a year for aberrations, isn't it?

That is a particularly splendid one though.
