hi
still no luck with locating brown hairstreak at somerford but I was told of another site not too far from there,it is a place called cloatley farm nr the village of north minety.the best parking is at the wiltshire wildlife trust car park for cloatley meadows.I spent 3 hours there on monday but still didn't see any hairstreaks. The habitat looks ideal with lots of blackthorn and several large ash trees.the meadows are full of other things to distract from the very elusive hairstreaks.I will be there again next monday for a final attempt.
regards

Use the link on this site to Butterfly Conservation, go to the Upper Thames branch, then events. They are having a meeting to look for brown hairstreaks on Sunday, 10th September. Apparently last year's meeting was very successful! Don't know if this meeting would be within travelling distance for you?
Good luck! Alex

They are going to Whitecross Green Wood, I was there two weeks ago and saw some then, well worth the trip if you can.
