Camberwell Beauty

Post by stainesmassive »

I think this is a Camberwell Beauty, seen at Bedfont Lakes Country Park on 27 August 2006 about 3pm. It's a bit of tired specimen but looks one that has possibly hibernated over winter already. What do you think?

It's undoubtedly a Camberwell Beauty, so congratulations are in order! Tatty or not, it's more than I've ever seen. I'm no expert, but at this time of year I would have thought it is more likely to be a butterfly that has 'done the rounds' rather than one that has hibernated - however, I stand to be corrected.
